Baduk Lee Sedol vs. Virtual 'Lee Sedol' SOOP, a unique matchup

The genius Go player 'Lee Sedol' and the virtual idol group 'Isekai Idol' will face off.



SOOP announced on the 11th that it will hold a Go match event 'SOOPER MATCH 1' between Go player Lee Sedol and virtual idol group Isekai Idol on the 21st. SOOPER MATCH is SOOP's original content in which streamers and people from various fields compete as a sport, and this event will be held as a Go event.

SOOP's partner streamer Isekai Idol is a six-member virtual idol group planned by streamer 'Woowakgud' and has been active in various fields such as music, webtoons, and broadcasting since its debut in December 2021. Go player Lee Sedol has written the history of Korean Go by winning many domestic and international competitions, and in 2016, he became famous worldwide by defeating the artificial intelligence AlphaGo.



SOOPER MATCH 1 will be held with the concept of determining the true owner of the name 'Lee Sedol'. The match will be divided into simple 'mini games' and the main match 'Superpower Go', and in the main match, the other-world idol members will use their own special Go abilities to play a match against Lee Sedol.



The match will be broadcast live on SOOP starting at 8 PM on February 21st. The event will be held on the virtual reality platform VRChat, and Lee Sedol will create an avatar and meet the other-world idol members in the virtual space.
