Jep Enters Indonesian EdTech Market with 'Jep Quiz'

Metaverse platform 'ZEP (CEO Won-bae Kim and Sang-yeop Kim)' is entering the Southeast Asian edutech market to expand its global business.

ZEP announced on the 11th that it will officially launch its service in Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous country. The strategy is to accelerate global expansion by officially entering Indonesia, the largest edutech market in Southeast Asia, starting with the ZEP-based edutech platform 'ZEP QUIZ'.

Indonesia is considered a country with high edutech market growth potential. The company explains that it is a country with a population of approximately 280 million, the fourth largest in the world, and a digital powerhouse with approximately 220 million internet users.

According to the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, the population eligible for compulsory education in Indonesia is approximately 45 million, and when the school-age population is considered to be up to 24 years old, the total school-age population is approximately 110 million, making it the largest edutech market in Southeast Asia.

Jeb's official entry into Indonesia is based on high local demand. Before the official entry, in January, the monthly active users of Jeb Quiz in Indonesia reached 320,000, and the daily active users peaked at 50,000.

In order to confirm the local interest shown in the indicators, Jeb held a webinar on 'Maximizing Student Learning Effectiveness in the Digital Age' for local Indonesian teachers on the 24th. Approximately 300 local teachers participated in the webinar, proving the high demand.

Jeb is focusing on service localization through its official entry into Indonesia. It officially supports the Indonesian language and added traditional Indonesian costumes as avatar costumes in Jeb. Along with this, we are providing school maps that reflect the local atmosphere for free. We plan to add various maps and objects targeting Indonesia in the future.

In addition, we have hired five Indonesian employees in Korea to respond to local inquiries, and we are also using these personnel to produce Indonesian tutorial videos and operate social media. We are also considering establishing an Indonesian corporation in the future.

Kim Sang-yeop, CEO of Jepp, said, "After analyzing data from hundreds of thousands of people who naturally flowed in from Indonesia and conducting webinars for local teachers, we concluded that Jepp Quiz is a good fit for the Indonesian edtech market," and "We plan to accelerate global expansion starting with the official Indonesian service."
