[MWC 2025] KT Discusses 'Responsible AI' with Global Telcos

KT (CEO Kim Young-seop) announced on the 6th that it participated in a key session hosted by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) at MWC 2025 held in Barcelona, ​​Spain and discussed 'responsible AI' with global companies.

KT AI Future Lab Director Bae Soon-min (CRAIO, Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer) participated as a panelist in the Building Ethical Intelligence session held at the MWC 2025 venue at 10:00 am (local time) on the 4th. This session was designed for key decision-makers at global telecommunications companies within the GSMA.



The event discussed ways for telecommunications companies to implement ethical AI at a time when AI technology is becoming deeply ingrained in our daily lives. The participants focused on the core principles for responsible AI adoption, such as fairness, human subjectivity, privacy, security, and transparency.



Vice President Bae emphasized that KT has established the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Center (RAIC) in April 2024 and established the ASTRI (Accountability, Sustainability, Transparency, Reliability, Inclusivity) AI utilization ethics principles, and has been committed to building a global ecosystem through collaboration on responsible AI technology development.



Vice President Bae also participated in the session, "Are Telecommunications Companies Falling Behind in AI Innovation?" held in the afternoon of the same day and shared insights with telecommunications companies from each country.



In this session, the participants diagnosed the current status of AI adoption in the telecommunications industry, including successful cases and difficulties, and regional differences, and analyzed obstacles in the adoption process. They discussed strategies to overcome them.



Vice President Bae explained the influence of new partnerships emerging in the era of AI technology competition, along with the case of the strategic partnership between KT and Microsoft. He also suggested the role of telecommunications companies in areas such as infrastructure, data, talent development, and governance.



The Women ICT Leaders Roundtable, co-hosted by GSMA and ITU, discussed inclusive digital services through new technologies such as AI. Participants from each country, including Executive Director Bae, explored ways to support young women and girls around the world to demonstrate leadership in the digital world. Executive



Director Bae said, "In a situation where AI technology is developing rapidly, establishing ethical guidelines and practical adoption strategies are not optional but essential," and "KT will lead responsible AI development while introducing practical AI technologies and services to accelerate AI innovation in the industry."
