Chairman Wei explained, "Currently, our production lines in the United States are already full, and all production lines to be built next year and the year after are also fully booked." He
continued, "This investment in the United States will not affect the company's investments in Korea," and emphasized, "We plan to build 11 new production lines in Taiwan this year."
Regarding the issue of subsidies from the US, he added, "We only want fairness and are not afraid of competition," and "We are not investing in the US because of subsidies."
At a press conference that day, President Lai praised this investment, saying, "This is TSMC's moment, Taiwan's moment, and a historic moment in Taiwan-US relations."
President Lai emphasized, "We have built a sacred mountain together to protect the country, and every time TSMC moves, it becomes stronger and more competitive, and further helps Taiwan become stronger."
He continued, "TSMC did not receive any pressure from the US in the process of deciding to invest in the US."
On the 3rd, TSMC Chairman Wei Zhejiang met with US President Donald Trump at the White House and announced that the company would invest 100 billion dollars in the US.
With this announcement, TSMC's total investment in the US will increase to 165 billion dollars. TSMC said the new investment will be used to build five manufacturing facilities in Arizona and create thousands of high-paying jobs.
