According to market research firm Omdia on the 20th, LG OLED TV shipments in the first quarter of this year amounted to approximately 704,400 units, recording a 52.1% share of the OLED TV market.
In particular, compared to the same period last year (shipments of approximately 626,700 units, market share of 51.5%), shipments increased by 12.4% and market share increased by 0.6 percentage points.
LG Electronics is continuing its leadership in the global OLED TV market with differentiated artificial intelligence (AI) functions, unrivaled picture quality, and convenience such as a true wireless AV transmission solution. After taking first place in the world of OLED TV for 12 consecutive years last year, the company plans to continue its throne this year as well.
Also, with the industry's largest lineup (77, 83, 88, 97 inches), it led the expansion of the ultra-large OLED TV market with an overwhelming market share of 54.9% for 70-inch or larger OLED TVs and 63.6% for 80-inch or larger OLED TVs in
the first quarter. In the first quarter, the shipment share of ultra-large TVs 70 inches or larger within the entire OLED TV market was 15.3%, up 1.2 percentage points from the same period last year (14.1%).
In the first quarter of this year, the share of OLED TVs in the premium (over $1,500) TV market in terms of shipments increased 3.5 percentage points from the same period last year to 44.8%, approaching half. As
OLED TVs led by LG Electronics have firmly established themselves as synonymous with premium TVs, it is expected that the shipment share of OLED TVs in the global premium market this year will exceed 50%.
LG Electronics is targeting the premium TV market with its own platform webOS, a screen that is three times brighter than general OLED TVs (B5 model), and a wireless AV transmission solution. It
also plans to continue to strengthen its leadership in the global premium TV market with a 'dual track' strategy that focuses on LG OLED TVs, which are considered leading premium TVs, and QNED TVs, which are premium LCD TVs. Global
TV market shipments in the first quarter were approximately 47,483,200 units, up approximately 2.4% year-on-year, turning to an upward trend for the first time in four years. OLED TV shipments in the first quarter were approximately 1,351,300 units, up approximately 11% year-on-year, significantly exceeding the overall market growth rate and showing an upward trend for the first time in three years.
