Kia Motors announced that it participated in the 'Future of the Car Summit', a global automobile industry leader forum and exhibition held in London, England on the 13th (local time) and introduced the wheelchair-accessible vehicle 'PV5 WAV' model.

At this event hosted by the 'Financial Times' Group, Kia announced plans to distribute Purpose-Built Vehicles (PBVs) for the mobility impaired, such as the PV5 WAV, to the UK and Europe in cooperation with Motability, a British vehicle leasing company for the disabled.

Motability is the world's largest WAV operator, operating a fleet of approximately 35,000 WAVs.

The PV5 WAV is a vehicle that reflects Kia's will to provide greater freedom of mobility to the mobility impaired. △The Universal Design concept that allows both general passengers and wheelchair users with reduced mobility to board is characteristic, △A side-mounted boarding and disembarking method that takes into account the convenience of wheelchair users, △A structure that allows a caregiver to ride in the third row to assist wheelchair users.

In the UK and Europe, the need for electrification is also emerging in the mobility market for the mobility impaired. Starting with the PV5 WAV, Kia expects that it will be able to proactively respond to market changes through continued cooperation with Motability.

In addition, the PV5 WAV is produced at the 'Hwaseong EVO Plant', a PBV-only factory with a flexible and efficient manufacturing process such as small-quantity production of a variety of products, which can contribute to sustainability by reducing unnecessary waste of resources. The

Kia plans to expand the distribution of the PV5 WAV not only in the UK and Europe, but also globally.

Furthermore, Kia plans to apply a total solution to the PV5 WAV that can resolve the inconveniences experienced by the mobility impaired when using regular vehicles, such as by reviewing the installation of various applications for the convenience of wheelchair users based on the AAOS (Android Automotive OS) open software platform.

Kim Sang-dae, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia's PBV Business Division, said, "I believe that the competitiveness of the PV5 WAV has been proven by Motability, the world's largest leasing company for vehicles exclusively for the disabled, and we expect that the PV5 WAV will be able to contribute to the free and independent movement of the mobility impaired." He added, "Kia will open the way to a future where everyone can enjoy the benefits of sustainable mobility."

Meanwhile, in line with its vision of being a "Sustainable Mobility Solutions Provider," Kia has been continuously conducting "Green Travel," a social contribution project that helps improve the right to mobility by providing opportunities for travel, such as free support of Carnival wheelchair slope vehicles to the mobility impaired and their families since 2012. In 2021, we have been carrying out various activities, such as implementing 'EnableLA', a WAV car-hailing service demonstration project in LA, USA, where a professional driver visits the applicant in a Telluride vehicle modified for the convenience of the mobility impaired and transports them to their destination.
